“It was my childhood dream to have a small farm, so when I married the daughter of an ex Ghurkha turned farmer it seemed too good an opportunity not to turn my dream into reality through learning from Insuba and developing the farm together.” Douglas Maclagan

Furse Khola Farmhouse is run by Douglas Maclagan, a Scotsman who came to Nepal in 1994 to set up two day-care health centres. Today Douglas is the Operations Director of an international non-government organisation (INGO) called CWS (Child Welfare Scheme) which works mainly with young people, children and street children, providing health care, education and social opportunities. With his other hat on Douglas owns and runs Furse Khola Organic Farm, which has eight full time employees as well as seasonal staff.

Insuba

Insuba first met Douglas during the establishment of the very first project in the remote foothills. Today, as well as being a wife and mother, Insuba works as a part time health worker at the Jyoti Projects, rehabilitating street children and young adults from difficult backgrounds.

Fiona

Fiona is 5 years old and attends school in Pokhara. When not doing homework or overseeing the running of the farm and planting the rice to feed the family, she can be found swimming with friends in her own paddling pool. Speaking fluent English and Nepali Fiona is an inspiration to us all!

Aisha

Aisha is the baby of the family, at only a few months old. In her spare time she enjoys kicking her legs and playing with mummy!

Actually our family consists of everyone who works on our farm as well as many of those who are involved in our projects. And here we are!
