When to Come
Each season brings its own delights at Furse Khola Farmhouse. Each season also brings something different to see and experience at Furse Khola Organic Farm.
Planting rice
1 October – 31 December
Day time temperatures range from 26oC in October/ November to 17oC in December with night temperatures falling to as cool as 6oC
This is the best time to view the mountains from the Farmhouse and nearby hills. At the farm rice harvesting takes place in October followed by preparation of the fields for wheat planting. On-going planting and harvesting of seasonal vegetables such as spinach, potatoes, cauliflowers, carrots, beans, onions garlic etc takes place.

1 January – mid May
January is the coolest month with temperatures rising by mid February from 20oC to 34oC in May. Evenings vary from 10 to 20oC.
On the farm wheat harvesting and corn planting takes place. Seasonal vegetables include carrots, cabbage, cauliflower, planting of egg plants, cucumbers, ladies fingers, bitter gourds, etc.
Mid May – 1 Oct
This period sees us through the pre-monsoon hot weather with occasional thunderstorms, the monsoon with cooler days of cloud and rain interspersed with sunny periods, and the post-monsoon season when the temperature starts to rise again. Humidity is high during this period and temperatures range from 25-35oC depending on the day’s weather and 20oC at night.
On the farm corn is being harvested and the paddy fields are being prepared for rice planting. The harvesting of cucumbers, ladies fingers, bitter gourds and the planting of egg plants, local pumpkins, tomatoes, ginger, beans, etc takes place.
