What to Expect

Wildlife

As you are staying in nature you will encounter common insects, depending on the season, such as mosquitoes, leeches, lizards, frogs, geckos, and other natural wildlife such as leopards in the jungle, deer, monkey, snakes etc. While we can guarantee you there will be no bed bugs in your mattress, we don’t guarantee you won’t meet a spider in the bathroom or stick insect on the veranda!

Culture

We ask you to respect the local culture and dress appropriately. That means no skimpy clothing or short shorts for women. Also, ladies, please dress appropriately when swimming in the river – wear a lungi (sarong) on top of your swimming costume when in the river and cover your legs and arms when walking in the village. Gentlemen, in Nepal men do not go shirtless, even the poorest man will have a torn and ragged top, so please keep your shirt or t-shirt on when walking in the village.

What to Bring

Light clothes in summer; light jacket and sweater in winter; trekking boots or walking shoes; walking clothes; comfortable clothes; swimming/paddling gear with lungi for women; torch; insect repellent; suncream; sunglasses; sunhat; raincoat and/or umbrella in monsoon; rubber slippers; your own personal medicines and toiletries; baby foods; extra batteries (please take used ones away with you or bring rechargeable ones); any snacks you might enjoy, and food should you have any preferences you wish to cook yourself. (There is a simple shop nearby but the nearest supermarket is in Mahendrapul)
